b'TRIBUNALS ACHIEVEMENTSSince 20182019, the followings activities were carried out to support the four Tribunalsstrategic objectives:1.Facilitate access to justiceCanadians expects federal institutions to be transparent, effective and easily accessible. The Tribunalhas implemented the following strategies over the past five years to meet these expectations:A redesign of practice notes in plain language so they are more accessible to the public and allparties involved in casesConducting virtual hearings, which minimize travel time and costs for all partiesThe creation of a guide for self-represented personsWriting decisions in clear, simple language2.Establish a governance structureThe Tribunal has a strong governance structure that can respond to the increased complexity of cases arising from the coming into force of new legislation and regulations. The purpose of this structure is to ensure a fair and expeditious review process that incorporates best practices, while protecting the members independence. Consequently, the following elements have been developed:Code of Ethics for MembersDecision Review CommitteeReasons Review PolicyMandatory case management conferences3.Modernize operationsFrom an operations perspective, the Tribunal has focused on reducing and eliminating the backlogof requests for review. Virtual hearings have enabled us to maintain our pace despite the pandemic.In addition, the implementation in 2021-2022 of a new case management system supports theTribunals vision with innovative and modern practices.21'
