b'MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRPERSONIn presenting my third annual report, I cannot omit to mention the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This situation, which is extraordinary and unprecedented in modern times, is making us realize the importance of the Canadian food chain. Despite a certain precar-iousness due to the nature with the market, Canadas food chain remains safe for consumers.Whilealwaysrespectingtheindependenceofthe Tribunal, I have been able to rely on the support of Mr. Chris Forbes, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Agri-FoodCanada,andhisentireteamincarrying out the mandate of the Canadian Agricultural Review Tribunal (Tribunal). I would like to thank him for that cooperation, which remains essential to the Tribunals success. I feel that it is equally important to recog-nize my teams tremendous efforts in the day-to-day management and administration of the Tribunal.ThesubstantialincreaseintheTribunalsworkload observed during last fiscal year was sustained this year. I am still of the opinion that this growth will continue, especially with the full coming into force of the new legislative framework of the Safe Food for Canadians Act and the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations.Also, as announced in my first annual report, requests forreviewarebecomingincreasinglycomplex.For example, four constitutional issues were raised over the last year. In addition, the number of experts in the cases is also significantly on the rise.
