CANADA AGRICULTURAL REVIEW TRIBUNAL 14 Mandatory Case Management Conferences in Preparation for the Hearing One of the Chairperson initiatives has been the implementation of mandatory case management conferences in each file requiring a hearing. At once an effective tool to address specific legal issues in any particular case, mandatory case management conferences are an excellent management tool to determine the complexity of cases. In addition, they allow preliminary matters to be raised, the determination of the evidence to be admitted at the hearing as well as of the number of witnesses. Thus, mandatory case management conferences prepare the case to ensure an impartial, fair, equitable and expeditious hearing. The immediate impact of this new process is that the Tribunal now finds itself issuing a detailed order following each mandatory case management conference. In addition, beginning this fiscal year, it will be possible to view the Tribunal’s orders by accessing the published decisions in the relevant file.
